Animal Testing is Animal Cruelty :: Animal Testing
Animal Testing is Animal Cruelty We, as humans, have made numerous advancements in the world. We have firmly established the scientific evolution, but in doing so, it seems that our ethics and morals have failed to progress as well. The knowledge we have acquired is remarkable, but with it comes responsibility to use it wisely and ethically. We torture and heartlessly kill creatures that we arrogantly consider lesser beings simply at our disposal. For something as simple as eye makeup animals are tortured and blinded by tests performed at the laboratory. Where they are hardly fed, often forced to live in filth, and sometimes have their vocal cords removed to keep them quiet (CAAT). We are systematically cutting down the last forest that provides their shelter to farm cattle; we dump toxic chemicals and sewage into the waters in which they live; we wear and display the tusks of the last few of their species in our homes, and we pour cosmetic products into their eyes and body parts to determine the harmful effects the y might cause on humans, even though the physiological differentiation between humans and the animals they use is drastic. On a daily basis most people do not see their own degree of unintentional support towards this global dilemma, but when compiled on paper one must question how mankind can, with conscience, commit these acts which shame us as human beings. Animals possess the same kinds of feelings and emotions as human beings, and without anesthesia, they are subjected to the pain as well. Mankind often fails to give animals the respect and rights they deserve, they are treated as lifeless, unfeeling scientific specimens and items that we may manipulate at our own convenience and for vanityââ¬â¢s sake. The Facts of Animal Tests - Laboratory research involving animals is cruel and merciless treatment of helpless creatures. No law requires that cosmetics and household products be tested on animals. Nevertheless, every day hundreds of animals will have had their eyes, skin or g astrointestinal systems unnecessarily burned or destroyed (PETA). Two of the most common animal tests are the Draize, or eye irritancy test and the LD50 (Lethal Dose 50). The Draize test is performed almost exclusively on albino rabbits, such as the Forida White, because they are cheap, docile, and are not ââ¬Å"equippedâ⬠with tear ducts to wash away the chemicals. During the test the rabbits are immobilized in a stock with only their head protruding and a solid or liquid is placed in the lower lid of one eye of the rabbit; substances vary from mascara to aftershave and even oven cleaner.

Allpied Behavioral Analysis
According to what we have so far is that his parents are divorcing this alone can be the cause of the problem and his actions are channeled through his disruptive behavior. It is possible that Cameron has lost the ability to process information due to the nature of the stress he is expose, lack of sleep greatly reduces mental capabilities because of the lack of integration of memories. When the brain and body re not restored from the day before stress hormones like cortical are deposit in the central nervous and limbic system causing a negative reaction and can affect our memory (Seabrook, 2012). Stress is a psychological response resulting from a physical or psychological treat.Children that are exposed to several day of stressful situation (like in the case of Cameron) frequently have poor self-esteem, poor frustration tolerance, depressed mood and temper outburst. However, individual responses differ according to an array of factors, and most relate to the development of effective opining skills, resiliency, experience with stresses, and susceptibility to strong messages (Seabrook, 2012), which in Cameraman's case is what perceive in his family what triggers or active the stress response. 3) How might his intelligence be affected by his attention problems? What problems might he have in using his intelligence to adapt to school situations? In Cameron case his intelligence may not be affected however, his working memory that is the basic component of intelligence is the one being affected. Working memory is also the influences to perform on test and in schools assignments. Not only do changes in the brain directly affect psychological functions, but the training of psychological functions may produce changes in the brain as well (Matthias & Alcohol, 2010). In another word Cameron problem may lead to other concern that have nothing to do with intelligence, however, his difficulty to adapt to he school situation may lead him to peer rejection and resulting feeli ngs of depression or anxiety. Finally other risk factors such as drug and alcohol abuse, and social-cognitive deficits may be expected by his continuous behavior. 4)Propose some specific strategies/activities that you might use to help him to increase his ability to direct his attention. There are a wide range of approaches but the earlier the intervention the better changes for success in treating Cameron will have. One of the suggestions will be through parenting skill and education. However, they are getting onto a divorce so they will need help for themselves, so I will concentrate my efforts to make Cameron more susceptible to a treatment he will successfully achieve.A cognitive behavioral therapy may assist the Cameron to manage his impulsive behavior, focusing in encouraging and rewarding appropriate behavior. Social skill training to increase flexibility and improve social skills and therapy to assist with problem solving and decrease negativism. There are also few medication that may be helpful control his emotion and sudden outburst of anger but I would left that out for owe and concentrate in getting him the ability to concentrate in doing better at school by reinforcing his working memory and meta-cognition. In conclusion, many authorities have indicate that oppositional defiant disorder is more prevalent when structure in the home is out of balance, when there is either too much structure or not enough.

Paradise Lost Character Analysis - 1965 Words
The Virtues of Marriage and Culpability of Authority In modern-day society, marriage is considered to be a capstone event in peopleââ¬â¢s lives, the culmination of their romantic endeavors in a lifelong, legally recognized partnership. In Paradise Lost, Miltonââ¬â¢s characterization of the first union of human beingsââ¬âthe marriage of Adam and Eveââ¬âstrips marriage down to its most basic, primal form, and uses Adam and Eve to explore the relationship between obedience and autonomy. The obedience expected of Adam and Eve from God is mirrored in the obedience Adam expects from Eve, and her desire for greater independence is met with confusion and concern. However, Miltonââ¬â¢s characterization of Eve as both a sinner and a victim implies that God and Adamâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Miltonââ¬â¢s personal belief of what makes an ideal marriage is founded in a core set of values he prescribes toââ¬âvalues that Adam and Eveââ¬â¢s marriage do not seem to matc h, even before the Fall. This is evidenced in Book 4, where he writes, ââ¬Å"Hail wedded Love, mysterious law, true source of human offspring, sole propriety In Paradise of all things common else. By thee adulterous lust was drivââ¬â¢n from men Among the bestial herds to range, by thee Founded in reason, loyal, just, and pure, Relations dear, and all the charities Of father, son, and brother first were knownâ⬠(4.750-757). He emphasizes purity and an absence of lust, but sexual desire is present from the moment Adam sees Eve, as Adam explains that she ââ¬Å"inspired the spirit of love and amorous delightâ⬠from that moment on (8.476-477). Milton speaks through the angel Raphael to further accent his belief, with Raphael warning Adam, ââ¬Å"if the sense of touch whereby mankind Is propagated seem such dear delight Beyond all other, think the same vouchsafed To cattle and each beastâ⬠¦In loving thou dost well, in passion not, Wherein true love consists not; love re fines The thoughts, and heart enlarges, hath his seat in reason, and is judicious, is the scale By which to heavââ¬â¢nly love thou mayââ¬â¢st ascend, Not sunk in carnal pleasureâ⬠(8.579-583, 8.587-593). The Communication Process Of Veterinary Medicine - 970 Words
Growing up I always envisioned veterinary medicine as doing yearly checkups and finding solutions to medical problems. I basked in the idea of impacting the lives and welfare of animals on a daily bases. When I was young I idolized my local veterinarian because he got to travel around and work with animalsââ¬â¢ every day. He was present during some of the best and worst situations, and in the end was there as a friend. At these times, he played into an overlooked area of veterinary practice, the verbal and nonverbal communication portion. With the life style I was raised in, along with my observation time at Lee vet clinic I was able to witness both sides of the communication process. Communication both verbal and non-verbal is a two way street that needs to happen in order to provide the best care for the animal along with the well-being of the owner. With each interaction growing up with my local vet he showed both forms of communication in a way of empathy and understanding for our emotions and choices with our animals. This created a bond of trust and a borderline for animal treatments. I learned that as a practitioner building that trust can be as easy as a nonverbal smile or a verbal greeting. At Lee vet clinic I was able to witness multiple acts of understanding and empathy towards owners of animals being euthanized, or those receiving bad news. The practitioners understood that some owners were not able to take care of the animals medical needs or that the animal wasShow MoreRelatedA Common Complaint From Veterinary Clients760 Words à |à 4 PagesA common complaint from veterinary clients is the increased costs of pet care. Cloud Computing The Implementation System
Question: Discuss about the Cloud Computing for The Implementation System. Answer: Introduction The assignment has been made on the topic of Cloud Computing technology. Child protection board has to follow some guidelines for fulfilling the requirements of the PaaS implementation system. The complete assignment has been divided into four parts. The first part is a study of the requirements of the remote administration, resource management and SLA at Child Protection Board. It is important for understanding the importance of these factors for implementing the cloud system (Garcia et al., 2014). The second part of the assignment is the study of the application resilience of the cloud system. It would show that resilience of the application is very crucial for cloud computing service. The disaster recovery is useful for recovering the lost data. The third part has shown the use of Erls guidelines for the assessment of the cloud computing service at Child Protection Board. The fourth part of assignment consists of summary on the cloud computing system. Importance of SLA, Resource Management, and Remote Administration Importance of SLA Management The SLA management of the cloud service would benefit the Child Protection Board with Performance Enhancement and Reliable Information. Performance Enhancement: The SLA management would help the Child Protection Board with the enhancing of the performance. The data access would be faster and more efficient. Reliable Information: The SLA management provides the benefit of getting reliable and efficient information from different resources (Pahl, 2015). The ethical conduct of the data stored in the cloud system would be aligned with its genuine nature. Importance of Resource Management The SLA management of the cloud service would benefit the Child Protection Board with expansion of operations and increase of data transfer rate. Expansion of operations: The resource management would ease the expansion of the information system of Child Protection Board. The automatic update option of the cloud system would provide the benefit of storing more data sets. Increase of data transfer rate: The resource management would increase the data transfer rate for Child Protection Board. According to Pahl (2015), the cloud system has higher rate of data transfer system that other information storage system. Importance of Remote Administration The remote administration of the cloud service would benefit the Child Protection Board with Access from any location and Gaining insights on the data. Access from any location: The remote administration is useful for providing the benefit of data access from any location (Garcia et al., 2014). The stakeholders of the Child Protection Board could get the information and data whenever they want irrespective of the location and time. Gaining Insights: The remote administration would help in gaining insights about the operations and activities of the Child Protection Board. The management of the database would be highly accelerated by the use of remote administration. Operational Checklist of Morad and Dalbhanjan Operations for the checklist Check Security of the database system would be important for securing the information of the Child Protection Board ? Identification of the authorizing users is important for restricting the unknown users for access of data and information ? The amount of data must be kept in classified format for ease of access ? Table 1: Operational Checklist for cloud service (Source: Addis et al. 2013, pp-253) Application Resilience and Disaster Recovery Application Resilience of Cloud Service The Child Protection Board would implement the cloud service for storing the data and information of their stakeholders. The use of application resilience in their operations would help in providing application services, portability and integrated operations. Application services: The application services would help the Child Protection Board with application based services (Addis et al. (2013). It would facilitate the storage for the data of Child Protection Board. The application system would be scalable in nature and the database could adopt as much data and information as required. Portability: Cloud Service provides the most important functionality of remote access of data and information (Verissimo, Bessani Pasin, 2012). The cloud service at Child Protection Board would also help the organization with the portable data storage system. Integrated operations: The operations of the cloud services is integrated at a single database (Sharma Santharam, 2013). All the operations of the Child Protection Board can be done using the same database of the cloud network. Disaster Recovery in Cloud Service The technological advancement had made people dependent on it for all their activities. All the data and information of the Child Protection Board would be stored in the cloud based information system (He, Wang, Gao Tang, 2015). However, there is possibility that the information and data may get lost or destroyed in any fatal accident. Hence it is important for keeping a backup of the data stored on the cloud network. The cloud computing system provide the feature of restoring the data that has been lost due to any typical error. According to Vora (2015), the cloud computing system is beneficial in cases of emergency and fast access of the data. The option of Virtual machine would help in forming the data recovery option for the cloud network. SLA or Service Level Agreement management of Erl The Service Level Agreement or SLA management consists of many typical factors such as ethical values, organization, values system, human rights, priority, and objectives. Date: 15th October, 2016 Child Protection Board Service Level Agreement Document Holder: Cloud Vendor Version of the Agreement: 2.61 Overview of the Agreement The formed agreement had provided and overview of the SLA agreement provisions that has been made in between the Cloud vendor and the beneficiary party of service, Child Protection Board. The sustentation of the cloud services and its storage is the primary goal. Scope of the Service The scope of the service provided by the cloud vendor are cloud service provision (virtual data storage system) and support for the Child Protection Board. Requirements of the Customers The cloud vendor would have to meet all the requirements of the Child Protection Board and their queries for the cloud service. Table 2: Service Level Agreement (Source: Genez et al., 2012, pp-912) Summarization of the Assessments Executive Summary The two assessments have demonstrated a reasonable idea of the distributed computing model for Child Protection Board. PaaS cloud administration can be actualized in the association and it would help in profiting the staff with the adaptability, availability, compliance, and disaster recovery of data. The cost examination has demonstrated that the cloud framework gave by Intuit QuickBooks has least costing for cutting and controlling the monthly membership. Hence it is proposed for being implied in Child Protection Board. The application strength and virtualization can be valuable for scaling the capacity over the cloud and information recuperation if there should be an occurrence of fiasco separately. Opportunity and Risk factors of Cloud System Opportunities Risks Large data management The large set of data of the organization can be easily managed Complex Implementation Design The design for implementation of the cloud service is complex Remote or wireless accessibility The cloud service would provide accessibility of the storage system from any place Can be hacked externally The wireless system of the cloud service can be accessed from anywhere and hence it is liable to be hacked by using means of hacking Scalable (the storage space can be modified) The increase in the amount of data could be adapted in the system of the cloud service. Flaws in security design The flaws in the security of the cloud service has made it prominent to fail for long run Backup and Recovery The backup and recovery would help in restoring of the data when the data has been mistakenly erased or lost Misuse of the data The data of the cloud system could be used by any internal member for personal gain Table 3: Opportunities and Risk Factors for cloud service (Source: Sadiku et al., 2014, pp-35) References Addis, B., Ardagna, D., Panicucci, B., Squillante, M. Tobacco Essays (910 words) - Tobacco, Habits, Nicotinic Agonists
Tobacco THIS IS A PAPER REGARDING THE TOBACCO INDUSTRY (3 PAGES). The Killing Business? This paper is about the tobacco industry. Some would find that the label killing business is very appropriate. Others would say that that name is misleading and inaccurate. Biased, I am not. So we will look at the issue in regards to the industry from both consumer and producer points of perspective with fairness and equality in reach. With an open mind now, lets peer closer at the aftermath tobacco has left us standing in. Something has to get a non-tobacco user to try his/her first cigarette, cigar, chew, or whatever it may be. What is that something? Tobacco ads play an important part in getting people hooked. The government has taken a step in the right direction by reducing the ways that the industry can advertise tobacco. They have limited it to written ads mostly like magazines, billboards, sponsorship (meaning that Marlboro could sponsor a racecar driver), and T-shirts. They arent able to advertise on television or radio in any way. This helps to steer youth away from tobacco. But is this grafting the industrys amendment of free speech? Not when the industry is responsible for thousands of deaths each and every year. What is it that makes a tobacco-user keep on buying the product? One of the most addictive substances in the United States. The mystery matter that keeps consumers coming back for more is nicotine. Is it necessary that the industry utilize nicotine to keep customers buying? Apparently so. The industry started lowering the tar in cigarettes to create a smoother flavor. But lowering the tar also meant lowering the nicotine because this method affected both aspects. So the industry generated a new breed of tobacco plants. The nicotine levels of the new flue-cured, Y-1, and rustica tobacco plants were 6% of the plants body weight. Before, tobacco only had 2%-3.5% nicotine. Chewing tobacco and snuff products have always contained fiberglass in them. These flecks of glass pierced gums and lips to allow nicotine to flow into the pores making it more addictive. The industry has since made the fiberglass obsolete and replaced it with actual nicotine crystals. These crystals penetrate the gums and dissolve inside of your jaw. Basically, consumers are now getting approximately double the nicotine in smoking and smokeless tobacco than had previously. The government has passed laws that prevent youth from purchasing tobacco goods. The legal age for acquirement of tobacco is 18. Does that in itself ward away potential teen tobacco users? To a certain degree, it works very effectively. Consumers under the legal age have no way around this law. However, there are some marketers that sell to underage tobacco users. But the industry is hardly to blame for that. The President devised a plan to raise prices of tobacco over the next four years in an attempt to discourage tobacco consumers. Realistically, no proposition such as that could ever be more ignorant and bemused. This scheme only gives rise to the industry.
