Legal Education In The Us :: essays research papers

Legal Education In The USThere is no undergraduate justice degree in the United States thus, students cannotexpect to landing field law without first completing an undergraduate degree. Basicadmissions conductments for American law schools are a Bachelors degree in anyfield and the Law School Admissions Test (LSAT). The American law degree iscalled the Juris Doctor (JD) and usually requires three years of study. The JD computer broadcastme involves courses in American common and statute law as well asinternational and business law. Overseas students who are considering anAmerican JD should note that this program focuses on preparation for US legalpractice. Undergraduate Preparation for Law SchoolNo particular subject or major field of study is required at the undergraduatelevel. Law schools are concerned that applicants have taken courses whichdevelop communication and analytical skills, and that they have exposedthemselves to a conformation of disciplines. The Prelaw Handbook ( Association ofAmerican Law Schools) suggests students study some or most of the followingfields but stresses that "well-developed faculty member ability" is preferable tointense forte in any one field economics, social sciences (sociology, psychology, anthropology, political science), computers, accounting, and thesciences. Most pre-law students earn their undergraduate degrees in one of thesocial sciences, rounding out their universal preparation with courses from otherdisciplines. All these subjects may be studied at virtually any university. Lawschools in the US do not require that students complete their Bachelors degreein America, but because of fierce competition for places in law schools, fewstudents are accepted from overseas universities. At the beginning of the lowestyear of undergraduate study, JD applicants should take the LSAT. No knowledge oflaw is needed to do well on this exam it is a standardized test of academicaptitude in the areas of reading comprehens ion and analytical and logicalreasoning. Legal EducationStudents thinking of law study soon discover that the programs of most lawschools have a great deal in common. The choice of one school over another isnot easily made on the pedestal of catalog descriptions of the teaching methods, course offerings, and formal requirements. The similarity is natural, since mostAmerican law schools share the aim of educating lawyers for careers that maytake many paths and that will ofttimes not be limited to any particular stateor region. Although many lawyers eventually find themselves practicing withinsome special branch of the law, American legal education is still fundamentallyan education for generalists. It emphasizes the acquisition of broad and basicknowledge of law, understanding of the functioning of the legal system, and

Biblical Symbolism In Rime of the Ancient Mariner :: Samuel Taylor Coleridge

Samuel Taylor Coleridges poem The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, written in 1797, has been widely discussed throughout literary history. Although critics read come up with many different interpretations of this poem, one idea that has remained prevalent throughout these discussions is the apparent spectral symbol present throughout this poem. The Ancient Mariner contains natural, gothic, and biblical symbolism however, the religious and natural symbolism, which coincide with one another, play the most important roles in this poem (Piper 43). It is apocalyptic and natural symbolism that dominates the core of this poem (43). The biblical symbolism found in this poem mainly reflects the apocalypse, as it deals with the Mariners revelation that good will triumph over evil, andhis acceptance of all nature as Gods creation. It is unfeasible to believe that Coleridge was not thinking of the mysterious wind that blows on the Mariner, without any awareness of the wind as a Biblical symbol of the Holy Spirit. Coleridge could as well as not associate the murder of the albatross with the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. The reader is told that the Polar Spirit loved the bird that loved the man who shot him with his bow. It is enigmatical that someone with Coleridges Christian background and faith could fail to see here an analogy with God who loved his son who loved the men that killed him. Another practice session of symbolism is the fact that the albatross is hung around the Mariners neck like a crucifix. Event the cross in cross-bow hints at the murder of Jesus, which logically paces the albatross as a symbol for Christ. It is thought that Coleridge deliberately created these symbols and images with Christian meaning in mind. The apocalypse is heavily reflected upon throughout this poem as Coleridge combined the vivid colors, the ocean, and the closing fires of The Ancient Mariner with the terror and desolation of the days of wrath in the apocalypse. The section of t he poem after the Mariner kills the mollymawk is a description of the vacuity and desolation that the Mariners experience, and the curse that is over the ship. This section of the poem has tremendous correspondence to the apocalyptic story. The language and form in this part of the poem represent the images and words, which have traditionally described the wrath of God and the guilt of man in Christian terms. Its is at this point in the poem that the Mariner feels guilty for having killed the Albatross and for the deaths of his shipmates.

Hemingway’s “The Short and Happy Life of Francis Macomber”

The text The Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber is a short story written in 1936 by an author called Ernest Hemingway. The story revolves around three people a man called Francis Macomber, his wife Margot and another man called Robert Wilson. The story isnt narrated from a fixed intimate of view, still changes multiple times throughout the story. The story isnt chronological, as there is a long flash plump for in the middle of the story. Francis Macomber is a very soused American man.Although we arent told what his profession is, my guess would be that he is some sort of big-name businessman, as we are told that his wealth is only going to grow, and he is on a regular basis featured in magazines together with his wife. Many people will probably describe Francis as a pushover, but I wouldnt say so. He does strike me as being extremely passive, and never takes action when he feels that something isnt going the way he wants it to. In spite of this Francis does have a very developed sense of pride, and when he is dishonored it hurts him a huge deal.Margaret Macomber is a very handsome woman, who is married to Francis. She doesnt seem to have a profession of her own, but we are told she does earn some bullion off of her beauty. Margaret is a extremely unlikeable character, she is completely stripped of empathy, and seems to care for nothing but her own requires. Robert Wilson is an English professional prevailer, who is residing in Africa, earning his money by taking rich foreigners out to realize their dream of killing lions, buffalos, rhinos and other animals that doesnt conk out in the western world.Robert seems to enjoy his job of guiding rich people through Africa, not just because of his love for hunting, but also because of the extra benefits that comes on with guiding around the young wives of older wealthy men He had hunted for a certain clientele, the international, fast, sporting set, where the women did not feel they were getting their moneys worth unless they had shared that cot with the white hunter. All in all Wilson seems as the ultimate free man, and therefore fits perfectly with the demands of a tag hero.He follows rules when he has to, but doesnt really respect them, and if he sees them to be unjust, he makes up his own, but only to the point where he isnt discovered. Apart from this he isnt bound by anything else, Wilson doesnt seem to be religious, and he sleeps with a lot of women, but doesnt feel the need to commit himself. When there is something he doesnt want to do, he simply doesnt do it. Francis and Margaret Macomber are on a safari in Africa, to hunt for wild animals. It isnt long though before we find out that not everything is going exactly as they had planned. He was dressed in the like sort of safari clothes that Wilson wore except that his were new, he was thirty-five years old, kept himself very fit, was good at court games, had a number of big-game sportfishing records, and had just shown himsel f, very publicly, to be a coward. . The four people seem to try to ignore it, as they go on with their routines without showing indications of any major events having taken place. This facade isnt kept for long, as Margaret storms of in tears. When she leaves the 2 men stay behind, and we get some more than info on what has happened primitively on. We are told that Francis had run from something, but we arent told exactly why he did so, and from what he ran. As Margaret returns and the three of them eat there are dropped some more subtle hints on what had happened. Maragaret taunts Francis with his cowardice, and also drops some ironic remarks about the lion, which leads us to thinking that it was the lion that Francis ran away from. We are then told the story about the lion.Francis thinks back on the night before, where the lions roars had kept him awake, and they terrified him a great deal. The following morning Margaret can tell that he isnt purport well, but being a man, who values his pride he doesnt want to tell her, although, he eventually does. But after breakfast they go out to hunt for the lion. They find it at the side of a river, and Francis has the lion set up for a pretty good shot, but his nervousness gets the collapse of him, and he doesnt get the kill shot in. Because of this the lion is able to escape, and hide in the tall grass.Wilson tells Francis that the lion is even more dangerous immediately that it is wounded and desperate, and Francis becomes even more scared and tries to escape the dangerous situation, via some ludicrous suggestions. But theres no way out of it. And of contour the expected happens, once the lion starts moving around Francis gets scared out of his mind, and starts running around like a crazy person. Margaret sees all of this, and is obviously disappoint with her husband so much even that she turns to Wilson. While they sat there his wife had reached forward and put her band on Wilsons shoulder. He rancid and sh e had leaned forward over the low seat and kissed him on the mouth. To once again highlight Francis passiveness he sits through this without even saying a word. As they return to the camp Francis realizes that his and Margarets marriage might as well be over, but he also realizes that it will never end, as Margaret is now too old to get a better man than him, and he isnt very good with the ladies. but she was not a great enough beauty any more at home to be able to leave him and better herself and she knew it and he knew it.She had missed the chance to leave him and he knew it. If he had been better with women she would probably have started to baffle about him getting another new, beautiful wife but she knew too much about him to worry about him either. This confirms, once and for all, that there is absolutely nothing passionate about their marriage. The very same night Francis wakes up in the middle of the night, and finds that Margaret isnt laying by his side, and she doesnt com e back for another two hours. And as if that isnt enough Margaret again shows her complete lack of empathy, as she doesnt even apologize to her husband, but just goes to sleep, as if nothing has happened. The next morning at breakfast Francis develops a great deal of animosity towards Wilson, and he ultimately throws quite a fit. Even so, Francis goes on to hunt for buffalos, and this goes a lot better than expected. Something happens with Francis and he is set free from the prison that is his own restraints. However, this newfound freedom doesnt last for long, as Margaret shoots because one of the buffalos were charging for him.

Biomedical or scientific, naturalistic or holistic

People view illness and death differently depending including on their own personal beliefs as well as their culture. The 3 major views that argon often used by different cultures to explain the causes of death and disorder ar biomedical or scientific, naturalistic or holistic, and magic-religious. Biochemical or scientific worldview is the most prevalent view in our healthc be system and it is embraced by most concurs and other health care providers. The basic idea of this view is that all events in life have a cause and effect, and that the human ashes works like a machine, and all reality can be observed and measured (exBP, Papa levels, intelligence test. ) unity example of the biochemical or scientific view regarding disease and illness is the bacterial or viral explanation of communicable disease. A naturalistic or holistic viewpoint are commonly embraced among the Native American, Hispanics, African American, Arab and Asian cultures. This viewpoint explains and focuses on the holistic explanation of what caused the disease. This belief focuses on keeping the forces of nature in natural equilibrium and harmony. Many Asian groups believe in the yin and yang theory which is a great example of this viewpoint. The yin and yang theory is a belief that there Is an ultimate equilibrise betwixt everything in life one way or another, meaning that health is believed to exist when all aspects of a person are In ameliorate balance or harmony. According to the holistic theories, disrupting the laws of nature creates Imbalances, chaos, and disease. The Magic- Religious views basic concept It that the world Is a place where the supernatural forces dominate, and they believe that the fate of everyone depends on the reach of the supernatural forces for good and evil.According to some African American and Caribbean people their explanations of magical causes of Illness Include belief In voodoo or which craft. Lady Macbeth and Her Gender Essay

In Shakespeares time women were considered to stay ay home, do the housework and to look afterward the children after they were married. The role of women was just to please men. Women had no right and no choices because men defined women. A young womens future was defined by their engender and they had no choice to refuse. In Shakespeares time, which was the Elizabethan period, t here were no actresses and men played women in plays. To women in those multiplication the play Macbeth would seem truly strange as Lady Macbeths character is nothing like women in thusly, even to men the character would seem strange.Lady Macbeth is an ambiguous character as she has two sides to her, one side is that she is fiendlike and the other is that she is not fiendlike. The first time we meet lady Macbeth, is when she was reading a letter that Macbeth had written to her telling her well-nigh the witches prophecy. She reads the letter and records yet I do fear thy nature, it is too full oth milk of human kindness. She thinks that Macbeths is too kind to do anything to become queen, she says that he is too kind, precisely no one can be too kind to kill anyone. She then says a spell, pour my sprits in their ear and she wants to give her brutal sprits to him and she has to take away the human kindness and fill it up with evil. This was the truly first encounter with Lady Macbeth and this will entertain the audience think that she is evil, which would shock the audience.Lady Macbeths understanding of ambition is evil. Without illness should attend it. The word illness actually means evil so she is saying without evil you cant be ambitious. The verb should indicate that Lady Macbeth feels that evil must always accompany ambition.Lady Macbeth has just heard that the king, Duncan is advance to stay at their castle. Lady Macbeth says a soliloquy and calls on evil sprits to assist her murderous plans. The raven himself is hoarse Lady Macbeths knows that shes a cleaning woman a nd cant commit the crime so she says unsex me here. If she is unsexed then she would not be a woman but a man and her feminine side would be taken away.Lady Macbeth wants to be filled with direst cruelty so that she can kill the king with hesitating. This soliloquy is actually a spell. We know this is a spell because she is calling on sprits to unsex her. To an Elizabethan audience and to our modern audience it is still suspicious for some one casting a spell. In the scene there are many mood changes from excitement to fury. This has a dramatic rear on the audience as the scene started off with a lot of excitement from lady Macbeth and then changed to a furious state towards Macbeth.Look like thinnocent flower, but be serpent under it. Here lady Macbeth is telling Macbeth to look innocent but be evil inside. This is like hug drug and Eve where Adam is Macbeth and eve is Lady Macbeth and the serpent tempted them. This in like manner spoiled their stay in paradise and to Macbeth a nd lady Macbeth it will spoil the whole public of the world, as they will be breaking the chain of being. This shows us that lady Macbeth is fiendlike and doesnt care about the rest of the world. Two scenes later lady Macbeth says something very shocking, which may have just changed Macbeths mind. Have plucked my nipple from his boneless gums and dashed the brains out, had I sworn as you have done this, here lady Macbeth is telling Macbeth that she would kill her own child and throw it on the floor and let it die than break a promise she had made. This is pure evil and again to an Elizabethan audience and to our modern audience this is odd, as no one would say that. After Macbeth kills the king and two guards are saying their prayers and he couldnt say amen. This worried Macbeth and all Lady Macbeth could say was consider it not so deeply. She didnt care about his feelings and what he was acquittance through and just simply forgot about it. Lady Macbeth is meant to look out for Macb eth, but she really has more control over Macbeth and he does not say anything to her as men in those days would. Lady Macbeth orders him to put the dagger back but he still in shock so she does it her self.In the play lady Macbeth is also not fiendlike towards Macbeth, and tries to support and help him. The first place where lady Macbeth is not fiendlike is when she was calling Macbeth a coward, which was in act 1 scene 7, just before Duncan is murder. Lady Macbeth may have looked like she was being fiendlike towards Macbeth, when she was calling him a coward. And live a cowed in thane own applaud, Macbeth could be saying this to him so that his dream of being king would come true and not for her to be queen. She called him all these names like a coward, invertebrate and lack of manliness to make him say no hes not and so he would prove her wrong. Lady Macbeth also said but screw your courage to the sticking-place, and this means be a man and this finally got him and he gave in. I think that it actually worked and it was the turning point and then murdered Duncan. In the second scene of act two lady Macbeth shows a week side in her as she says had he not resembled my father as he slept, I had donet. This shows us that she has some compassion in her and is not all evil. This has a bit of a effect on the audience as they now know she isnt all evil. After the deed is done Macbeth says this is a sorry sight and lady Macbeth replies with a foolish thought, to say a sorry sight, she is saying its too late now youve done it and your dreams will come true. She is keeping his hopes up and is also trying to forget about it.When Macduff tells Duncans son of their fathers murder, Macbeth has to depend himself and to help him out lady Macbeth faints in order to bring the aid away from Macbeth so that he would not be questioned. If she did not care about Macbeth she would have not done this. So this shows that she does love Macbeth.Lady Macbeth has her times when she is p ure evil but she also cares about Macbeth and about his well-being. She was very strong and kept her emotions inside her until the end and it drove her to sleep walk and then at the end to suicide. She kept it all inside for Macbeth so he would not get worried and so therefore I cant say she is fiendlike or not.

Either importing (filing) patient information, communicating via computer with different medical exam personnel, and of course verbally communicating with all parties involved in the case.My professional goals come from me always working with computers. I first thought I would be a computer technician but decided to take my career on a different path because the health care industry will be around for eternity. Both, administrative assistant and coding and b illing departments will recommend me to further my education. In either focalization that I plan to go I will motif more schooling so that my professionals goals are met.My first career goal is to become an Administrative Assistant. An administrative assistant has many of the same duties as a secretary, including typing, filing, answering phones and taking notes at meetings (WiseGEEK, 2014). These are all the things that I enjoy doing and can see myself fitting well in this position. Being a medical adminstrative assistant also includes duties such as managing the day to day operations of a medical preparedness so that the facility is ran smoothly, verifying patient insurance so that they are billed correctly, providing quality customer service to all patients, and also working in a professional enviornment. My second career goal if all fails with my first goal is to find a position in medical coding and billing. As a medical coding and billing professional, you will review patien t medical records and assign codes to diagnoses and procedures performed so the facility can bill insurance and other third company payers (such as Medicare or Medicaid) as well as the patient (Career Step, 2014). To fulffill this career goal I will have to go back to school and stimulate at least a certificate in this area. I will need to better registering the different codings so that I can proper(a) work in this area.In both administrative assistant and medical coding and billing field in the health care industry I authorizedly possess the ability to work with all types of computer software. I am a fast learner when it comes to computers and filing. I have the ability to understand computer software with reporting and emailing, I am a self starter, committed to self study to further professional developments, I have small troubleshooting skill, I enjoy seeing projects through from inception to completion, I am upbeat and friendly, I can easily adapt to new enviornments and c hanging priorities, I have excellent memory and attention to detail, I have also worked in a strong professional background.Softwares that I have the ability to fill out with no assistance are Microsoft Word, Microsoft Power Point, and Microsoft Excel. I am very comfort commensurate using these softwares and I have tons of experience doing so. I am extremely confident with the softwares that I have the ability to use and I am willing to learn other software programs if they will benefit me in my career path. Note taking is another skill. In my current employment I am writing all day. I have to notate my daily task with patients when they are under my care. In an administrative assistant position I will be taking notes when needed to betterCommunication is a skill that would definitely need to change in either one of my career goals. Communicating with patients, physicians, nurses, and also insurance companies is a strong skill that need to be possessed in both fields. I am not a b ig communicator but I have the ability to speak when needed. I would like to change this skill because it can force me further onmy journey to reach my career goals.A skill of mine that could be alter would be my computer skills. Even though I am fluent with computer technology there may be a way that I am processing information that is not actually the correct way or the shortess way of doing so. I am proficient in many computer software program but I am sure that I could be taught and grasp information different seeing though that I have no professional experience working with computers in a big indusrty.Another skill that can be altered is my ability to work in groups if needed. I am a self starter and prefer to work alone on projects but I am more than capable of working with others on big projects. I am opinionated especially when it comes to a group project where my job may be on the line. All in all there are many skills that could be changed and or altered depending on th e professional career direction that I consider to go in.To finally achieve my professionals goals it will take up to at least both years. I will be completing my bachelors stage in the next two months but will have to return back to school to give another degree and or just a certificate. Even after obtain all my degrees and certificates I would like to do an internship so that I can have that professional feel, seeing that I have no experience in either position. I would most likely physicially go into a school for further education with coding and billing. This is because I think I would be able to grasp the information a little better knowing there will be many codes for different areas of concern.I have someone that I am very close to in the coding and billing field so it is very possible that I can speak with them further closely their experience. This may also de lineine if I expect to go in that direction. During this time I will consider in which direction I want to g o whether it is an administrative assistant and or in the coding and fielding field. Either way I see it taking some time so that I can fully understand and grasp the knowledge of both fields. Volunteering would be another way that would be beneficial to ultimately achieving my long term professional goals. In orderto do this I will need to verbally communicate and do major research on organization in my area that would accomidate my needs to ease me grow.In my area, there are many professional organization that can help to achieve my professional goals. Even with my current employer, although I work as a caregiver, they would give me the opportunity to work within the office doing volunteer work and or even helping me with questions that I may have about my career goal. I could also do some research for hospitals in my area that offer internships so that I could get that feel of exactly what it is that I will be doing. There are health care organization such as hospitals, clinics within the hospital, and clinics within the metropolis along with multiple dental clinics. Having all these health care organizations around would help to benefit me.My career action plan outline provides beneficial reason out to which direction I will probably head into. Being able to see the outcome of each career goal and what they offer will help me in the next few month determine which career path I will take. The outline defined each awareness that I may have while analyzing the job descriptions for each career. At the end of my bachelors program I will have some better insight in which direction I want to go in so that I can enroll in a traditional school for further education. While obtaining my degree and or certificate I will start researhing organization that will allow me to intership. Once I have fully obtained what is need, with the intership I will hopefully have landed a position either with the same organization or with another organization close by.ReferencesCareer Step (2014).
